Paragus (パラガス, Paragasu), was a male pure-blood Saiyan and the father of Broly. He previously served as the right-hand to King Vegeta, recognized as a Colonel (大佐, taisa) in the Saiyan military. However, a falling out between the two ended in Paragus fleeing their homeworld with Broly.
Background[]
Paragus served as Vegeta III's military right-hand man.[1] However, after his infant son Broly was discovered to have a higher power level than the king's own son, King Vegeta decided to exile Broly to a remote, stormy planet.[2] Angered by this, Paragus fled the Saiyan homeworld and went in search of his son. Upon finding Broly, however, Paragus's ship was destroyed, leaving him stranded for many years alongside his son.[1]
Appearance[]
Paragus is an elderly Saiyan with olive skin, black eyes, spiky grey hair, and a full beard. His right eye is heavily damaged and has a scar over it. He wears a battle jacket with a white and green color scheme; he wears a purple body suit underneath.
Abilities[]
Paragus' Fighting Strength at the time Cheelai and Lemo found him on Vampa was 4,200, placing him above the likes of an elite such as Nappa. Paragus' strength earned him the title of "Colonel" in the Saiyan army — making him the only known Saiyan in the army with a ranking. Despite this fighting strength, which is impressive in its own right, Paragus was no match for the tick-like aliens on Vampa, requiring the strength of his son — which even modern edition Scouters found immeasurable — to defeat them.
Transformations[]
Great Monkey Transformation[]
Main article: Great Monkey Transformation While he has never been seen in this form, Paragus possessed his tail, even when Cheelai and Lemo saved him on Vampa. Due to this, he was capable of the Giant Monkey Transformation. He has prior experience with the form, knowing of its effects on untrained Saiyan wielders, and stated it should only ever be a last resort.
Ki Manipulation Techniques[]
While Paragus has not been seen using ki offensively, he was capable of using the Air Dance Technique to fly.
In Other Media[]
Main article: Paragus (Broly Trilogy)
Like Broly, Paragus was originally one of the villains introduced in the Broly Trilogy of anime movies from the Dragon Ball Z era. He was much the same in this interpretation (though considerably younger): the father of Broly with a grudge against Vegeta due to his father's treatment of Broly. Paragus was later killed by Broly after the former attempted to abandon his son.
