Karin (カリン; FUNimation "Korin") is a talking cat, over 800 years old, that lives atop Karin Tower, located in the Sacred Land of Karin. He serves with the current God of Earth, and is a martial arts master who has trained both Muten Rōshi and Son Gokū on separate occasions.

Karin's name is derived from "karintō" (かりん糖), a fried Japanese snack. “Tower” in Japanese is "tō" (塔).Karin Tower is "Karin Tō" (カリン塔), a homonym for the candy. Karin is named after his tower.
