The 24th Tenka-Ichi Budōkai was a tournament in which Mark—known by his stage name, Mr. Satan—retained his title of the champion of martial arts.

Overview[]

This tournament is only mentioned in the series. It is the tournament in which Mark, known the world over as Mr. Satan, became the champion of martial arts. It is also known that Videl competed in the first Junior division and won.[1] Sometime during the tournament, Mark fought and defeated Spopovich.

Trivia[]

  • This tournament creates an inconsistency in the timeline. The date for this tournament is given in Daizenshū 7, one of the many anime databooks. However, its placement directly contradicts both the manga and previously established anime facts which state that there hadn't been a Tenkaichi Budōkai since the 23rd Tenka-Ichi Budōkai:
    • Daizenshū states that the tournament occurs on May 7th, Age 767, placing it before the Cell Games.[1]
    • However, numerous characters comment before the Cell Games that there hasn't been a tournament since Gokū fought against Piccolo in the 23rd. In fact, the Cell Games were an attempt on Cell's part to revive the tournament.[2]
    • In later chapters, Videl claims that her father gained his champion's title immediately after Son Gokū (who got his during the 23rd). However, if Daizenshū is to be believed, this would place the tournament before the Cell Games, contradicting the manga and the anime proper. Because of this, the exact date of this tournament is unknown, though it likely actually took place during seven year timeskip after the Cell Games.[3]
